Extraction of koumine from Gelsemium Elegans Benth. and its therapeutic effect on collagen-induced arthritis in mice

This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect of koumine on collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in mice. Koumine was extracted from Gelsemium Elegans Benth. The CIA model established Balb/c Forty successfully modeled mice were randomly divided into group and 2, 4 8 mg/kg groups, 10 each group. Another normal selected as control groups treated with koumine, respectively, for three successive weeks. At end treatment, compared group, index significantly decreased (P < 0.05), peripheral blood interleukin-17 level T helper 17 (Th17) cell percentage interleukin-10 regulatory (Treg) increased spleen tissue RORγt protein expression Foxp3 0.05). In conclusion, has mechanism may be related its regulating RORγt/Foxp3 expressions, thus correcting Th17/Treg immune imbalance.
